Experience:
- Primary analyst and Lead consultant for architectural acoustics and building noise control problems, including room acoustics, isolation, and HVAC noise.
- Extensive experience in classroom acoustics and general school acoustics, including room acoustics, HVAC noise control, and sound isolation. LEED for Schools and green acoustics specialist.
- Specific to LEED for schools, has developed specialized room acoustics and HVAC analysis tools and spreadsheets to streamline the analysis process.
- Field measurements and investigations especially in architectural acoustics and environmental noise.
- Brings to his work the unique perspectives of a professional musician and strong talents in computer applications as well as his engineering training.
- Has developed for the firm a wealth of programs, macros, and spreadsheets to aid in analysis and data processing.
- Work on these tools as well as on many projects for clients has provided an excellent education in the underlying acoustical principles.
- A past Chair of the North Carolina Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America now serving as Treasurer.
- Has presented several papers to chapter meetings, and presented papers at national meetings of ASA: Pittsburg, June 2002 (school cafeteria noise), Salt Lake City, June 2007 (EASE computer modeling), and Miami, November 2008 (LEED for schools – green acoustics, and gym acoustics) as well as posters of church acoustics work at Providence, RI, June 2006.
